Cinematek

CINEMATEK offers a wide range of pedagogical activities in schools and other various extracurricular contexts. From kindergarten to the end of secondary school, these activities include, among others: theoretical and practical workshops (from pre-cinema to contemporary film), filmmaking, targeted workshops on particular aspects of film history (documentary, experimental film, acting, film language and film history, aesthetics, propaganda, etc.), allowing the participants to experience cinema in many exiting ways. Some of these workshops are also proposed in film festivals (FIFF – Festival International du Film Francophone, Filem’on, Festival l’Âge d’Or).

On a regular base, CINEMATEK also gives a great importance to recent and heritage films particularly aimed at a younger audience. Jeunes Fans de Ciné (Young Film Fans) is an annual cycle gathering about fifty screenings, proposed in three different venues. The screenings are accompanied by introductions, workshops or educational activities in order to replace the films in a more extended context of film history.

For the adult audience, CINEMATEK also offers a large and varied range of educational activities: courses and conferences, seminars, masterclasses, thematic debates, meetings with film professionals (directors, actors, journalists, producers, etc.). To organise these activities, close links have been established with the academic world (universities, film schools, artistic high schools, etc.). Most of these activities are directly related to the film program proposed at the film museum. These activities can also be held as part of special events such as festivals, premieres, film restorations, etc.

Guided tours of the film museum complete this educational offer, bringing together almost 14,000 participants per year.
