Synopsis
Alice dreams that she sees the White Rabbit and follows him down the Rabbit-hole, into the Hall of Many Doors. This first-ever film version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, made over 100 years ago, dramatises key scenes in Lewis Carroll’s story and is based on Sir John Tenniel’s original illustrations.
Reason of Choice
Cinema's first film version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, made over 100 years ago, dramatises key scenes in Lewis Carroll’s story. With a running time of just 12 minutes (8 of which survive), this was the longest film produced in England at that time, with some fantastic special effects for such an early film. Now digitally restored by the BFI National Archive in 2010 with support from the Headley Trust, you will be able to enjoy the original colour tints. Perfect film for creating a new score; 2015 is also the 150th Anniversary of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
